Question 1

Is my will legally valid?

Accepted Answer

WillBuddy generates wills designed to meet the legal requirements of your state or territory. A will only becomes legally valid once you sign and witness it correctly. We guide you through that, but can't guarantee validity. You'll need to sign it in the presence of two witnesses, as guided. We recommend a qualified lawyer checks your will before you sign, especially for a complex estate.

Question 2

Can I try it before I pay?

Accepted Answer

Yes. You can answer the questions and generate a will draft without entering any payment details; no credit card required to try. Payment is only needed when you're ready to finalise and download your will.

Question 3

Can I update my will later?

Accepted Answer

Absolutely. While your subscription is active, your plan includes revisions, so you can update your will anytime your circumstances change: a new asset, different beneficiaries, or a new executor.

Question 4

What payment methods do you accept?

Accepted Answer

We accept all major credit and debit cards through our secure payment processor, Stripe. Your payment details are never stored on our servers.

Question 5

How is my data protected?

Accepted Answer

Your will is stored encrypted in Australia, and we never sell your data. To draft your will, your answers are sent to OpenAI in the United States. Payments go through Stripe. Our privacy policy lists everyone who handles your information.

Question 6

Do I need to see a lawyer?

Accepted Answer

WillBuddy is a self-service tool, not a law firm. It does not give legal advice, and it never replaces a lawyer or solicitor. Many people use it for a straightforward will. If you're unsure about anything, or you have a business, a family trust, overseas assets, a blended family, or someone you plan to leave out, please get legal advice.

Question 7

How long does it take to create a will?

Accepted Answer

It depends on your situation. The questions are simple, in plain English and mostly taps, with no legal jargon. Your answers save as you go, so you can stop and come back.

Question 8

What does it cost?

Accepted Answer

Drafting your will and reading all of it is free. To print it, the plan is $39 a year, with up to 50 AI edits a year (30 more for $10) and secure storage while your plan is active. It renews at $39 a year unless you cancel, and we email you a month before.

Question 9

What states do you support?

Accepted Answer

WillBuddy covers every Australian state and territory: Victoria, New South Wales, Queensland, South Australia, Western Australia, Tasmania, the ACT and the Northern Territory. Each will is tailored to the requirements of the one you live in.

Question 10

Can I cancel my subscription?

Accepted Answer

Yes, any time, from your account. Your plan runs to the end of the year you've paid for. After that you can still read your will here, but not edit or print it. Cancelling doesn't change a will you've printed and signed.

Question 11

What happens after I create my will?

Accepted Answer

Once your will is complete you can download it as a print-ready PDF. Print it, sign it in the presence of two witnesses, and have them sign as well. We provide detailed instructions for this final step.

Question 12

Is WillBuddy suitable for complex estates?

Accepted Answer

WillBuddy handles most common estate-planning needs including property, investments, superannuation, and personal items (superannuation is usually dealt with via your super fund's nomination, not your will). For trusts, business succession, international assets, or anything you're unsure about, please get legal advice: WillBuddy isn't a law firm and doesn't replace a lawyer.
